Dean Fernando, touted as one of New York University's biggest and brightest future stars has faded into some form of self imposed obscurity. In 1991 the late NYU Professor Thierry Pathe' compared the student films of Dean Fernando to that of a young Scorsese because of the brooding and violent nature of his stylistic films. Fernando was one of the most heavily sought after young directors from NYU in the early 90s, but shunned any kind of "Hollywood" offer from the studios or talent agencies. Fernando is rumored to be living in Monterey, California.
