Catherine Pirotta hails from Lima, Peru where she studied Electrical Engineering. She then came to the United States to attend the film program at Los Angeles City College first, and later transfered to UCLA. Quickly, Catherine found herself writing and directing films that were selected among students for special screenings at school, and which made her a receipient of the "Women in Film" WIF mentor scholarship. Catherine has written and directed four films and received several awards for her services and excellence in filmmaking including nods from the ABC Network, Women In Film and Tribeca. Her first project Nobody's Fault (2002) was selected for the top honor at The Peruvian Film Festival in her native Lima. In 2003, her screenplay Adopting Change gained her a "Recognition of Creative Excellence" from the ABC Network and gained critical acclaim in festivals around the world, including Edward James Olmos's 2004 LALIFF Fim Festival. She then went onto writing and directing "5 Minutes" (2005) a dramatic film that depicts 5 minutes of life of several intertwained stories. The film was selected (among other festivals) as part of the official competition at the 2005 HBO New York Latino International Film Festival. Catherine more recently directed the feature film "Dreamkiller" a psychological thriller starring John Savage, Dario Deak and Tyrone Power Jr.
