Ghazaleh Golbakhsh

Ghazaleh Golbakhsh is an Iranian-New Zealand writer, director and actor who has worked across film and television in Aotearoa New Zealand. She is in development on a number of projects including her first feature script with the NZFC and Miss Conceptions Film and is a director for SPP's long running drama Shortland Street. She was one of the writer/directors on the feature Kainga (2022), the final installment in the trilogy by Brown Sugar Apple Grunt Productions for RNZ which premiered at the Melbourne International Film Festival in 2022. She was selected for the MIFF Accelerator Program in 2022. Ghazaleh completed a PhD with creative practice in Media and Communication in 2020 with a focus on Iranian diasporic cinema . She has studied screenwriting at the University of Southern California, where she also worked for the Sundance Institute.
