Opeth

Progressive rock/metal band that formed around 1990 in Stockholm, Sweden. The band went through various lineups before settling on the current lineup of Mikael Åkerfeldt - guitars, vocals (1990-)/ Fredrik Åkesson - guitars (2007-)/ Martin Axenrot - drums, percussion (2006-)/ Martin Mendez - bass (1997-), and Joakim Svalberg - keyboards (2011-). Their sound ranges from black and death metal to folk, classical, blues, and even jazz...often in the same song. The band have progressively been getting more deserved attention with every release - their tenth studio effort, "Heritage", made #19 on the U.S. Billboard 200 upon its September 2011 release. The band is now working on a follow-up to the album.
