Born in México City and raised in Monterrey (México). Was the youngest son of a catholic family. Although he was educated in catholic-inspirited colleges and universities, never accepted religion; but did develop a strong fixation for christian iconography and mysticism. Like many other children of his generation, was deeply influenciated by the movie "Star Wars Episode IV" which would be the cause for his devotion to cinema. Studied music for 3 years (1980-1983), to became a saxophonist. Instead he became a drummer. Had a rock band in his teenage years. At 16 he began acting on school theater and directed some short plays. There he met stage director Roberto Villarreal, who would become his mentor. Obtained a Major in Communication Sciences at the University of Monterrey. As a student, was alumni of mexican filmmaker Víctor Saca. Worked for 3 years in a museum, as an assistant for cultural affairs. Then moved to México City and submitted his application for the CUEC (Centro Universitario de Estudios Cinematográficos), the most prestigious film school in Latin America, but was rejected due to his age. In 1997 returned to Monterrey and took a job as corporate & commercial video producer (from which he developed his devotion to neatness in the image and sound). In the same period he teaches screen-writing at the University of Monterrey, imparts lectures and several film production workshops, and wins the National Screenwriting Contest (held by the Instituto Mexicano de Cinematografia) for his script "Fast Food". Also opens Sala Zero, a micro-cinema devoted to promote alternative & experimental cinema. He decides to devote himself to film teaching. Since 2001 lives in Ensenada (México), where he continues teaching film & television, among other subjects, at the university. Outside his student shorts, he has a very brief filmography: "Midas" (2003) and "bye bye, Navina" (2006). Has 2 children with his former spouse: Pablo (1998) and Diego (2001), named after the artists Pablo Picasso and Diego Rivera.
