As General Manager, Arick Wierson is responsible for all areas of NYC TV and NYC Media Group. This includes strategic planning, programming, production, technical operations, business development, finance and administration. Wierson brings years of experience to NYC TV, having held several senior positions in finance and technology, in addition to starting several large-scale entrepreneurial ventures. After beginning his career in investment banking at JP Morgan in New York City, Wierson took a position as Vice President of Business Development at ABN AMRO Asset Management in São Paulo, Brazil, where he was responsible for developing and marketing new Latin-American equity and money-market products to European institutional investors. Later, Wierson moved to coordinating the bank's e-commerce efforts and investments in new technology. In 2000, he left ABN AMRO to start Comjunta, a wholesale brokerage firm serving over 250 supermarkets in the Greater Rio de Janeiro area. After securing the initial seed capital, Wierson and a fellow co-founder successfully led the formal institutional round of financing. During his tenure as Comjunta's CEO, Wierson recruited a top-tier management team and focused primarily on fund-raising and client development. As a co-founder and major shareholder, Wierson served on the company's board of directors after moving back to the U.S. After leaving Brazil in May of 2001, Wierson joined the mayoral campaign of Michael R. Bloomberg. Wierson graduated cum laude from Georgetown University with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Foreign Service. He holds a Master's Degree in Economics from The State University of Campinas in Brazil. Wierson speaks fluent Spanish and Portuguese, and has been guest lecturer at Harvard's Kennedy School, discussing politics and media. Additionally, Wierson is an adjunct professor in the MBA in Media Program at Metropolitan College of New York, where he teaches courses on the business and economics of the broadcast, cable, and satellite television industries.
