British drag queen based in Manchester, England. Born Francis Joseph Pearson to parents Charles Frank Pearson (1916-1969) and Leah Winifred Hayers (1918-1995), he originally worked in a paper mill before discovering drag. He was prolific from the 1970s until his death in 2003, during which time he owned several nightclubs in Manchester and performed regularly in the city. He accumulated a fortune of over £5m, and raised £4m for charity. Lammar (also spelled as Lamarr) recorded several albums and singles. His funeral was attended by Sir Alex Ferguson, Bryan Robson and Sue Johnston. Lammar died of cancer in the Christie Hospital and was survived by his partner of 29 years, Billy Hughes.
