Kellie McCants was born in Baltimore, Maryland and raised in the south (Arkansas and Virginia). Kellie's parents are both educators, her father, Dr. Gerald McCants earned his doctorate in Education and focused on University Administration; and her mother Phyllis Dowling-McCants, originally from St. George's, Bermuda, taught both Early Childhood Education and at the collegiate level. Kellie's creative spirit was encouraged by her family; and during high school she was accepted into the Virginia Governor's School for the Arts, Drama Division. As a rising senior, Kellie was also accepted into the Northwestern High School Institute where she was honored as that year's Female Cherub. During a summer break at university Kellie took part of a theatre residency at The Workcenter of Jerzy Grotowski & Thomas Richards in Pontedera, Italy with Thomas Richards and Mario Baigini. Kellie holds a B.A. in Theater Arts, Performance Track with a minor in Psychology from Fordham University at Lincoln Center. Since graduating she has performed at such venues as The Kennedy Center (The Millennium Stage), Cherry Lane Theatre (studio), CenterStage (PlayLab), 59E59 (East to Edinburgh), The Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland and The Classical Theatre of Harlem.
