Actress
Date of birth : 01/06/1950
City of birth : Chongnam, Korea

At the urging of her expatriate colleague James Nankung Hsin who was already established in the industry, versatile Korean import Po Chih-Hsien entered Hong Kong film to prove her talent as a serious thespian as well as an attractive comedienne who commanded a screen presence. Po's tenure at Shaw Brothers during the early 1970s was brief yet notable with several co-starring roles opposite repeat co-star Lily Ho in Kao Pao Shu's 'Lady with a Sword' and Inoue Umetsugu's 'Venus Tear Diamond' but it would be her ghoulish 'evil-twin' role opposite Ivy Ling Po in sophomore director Pao Hsueh-Li's wuxia thriller 'Finger of Doom' that brought her notice to studio director Chu Yuan to consider casting her in the iconic role of the ruthless but sensuous Madam Chun in his ground-breaking 'Intimate Confessions of a Chinese Courtesan' again opposite Po's frequent co-star Lily Ho. Po had to bow out of the role due to visa limitations that had her returning to Korea. The historic 'Confessions' role eventually went to Taiwanese newcomer singer/actress Betty Pei-Ti.
