Sherman Bergman was born and raised in Miami Beach, Florida. He was the only child of Polish born actress, Anne G. Sterling and war hero Hank Bergman As a child, he appeared on the South Florida television shows, The Skipper Chuck Show, Jumpn Jack, Banjo Billy, and Charlie Baxter's Big Top Circus Bergman graduated from Miami Beach Senior High where he studied acting under legendary drama teacher Jay W. Jensen. Bergman graduated from Miami Dade College, Florida International University, and Nova Southeastern University. He has a MS Degree. Bergman was an amateur boxer in Florida and competed in 4-Golden Gloves Boxing Tournaments. He posted a ring record of 17-4 (17 Knockouts); some sources list a 17-5 record. Bergman also fought Mickey Rourke in a non tournament bout. Bergman competed in kick-boxing and fought Jean-Claude Van Damme, and Gary Daniels. Bergman was a teacher for Miami-Dade County Public Schools. His students included numerous South American actors and actresses; including Santa Monica Gomez, Rocío Bastidas Conchita Puglisi, Gustavo Cardozo, Haydee Ramírez, and Carlos Augusto Maldonado.
