A former pastor, Douglas Folsom is an award-winning filmmaker, novelist, and screenwriter who mostly writes inspirational dramas with a touch of romance, and magical realism. Doug grew up in Boxford, and Orleans, Massachusetts. He graduated from New York University-majoring in acting and English. After years of pursuing acting and studying with Lee Strasberg, Stella Adler, Shelly Winters, and William Greaves among others, he became an ordained pastor and chaplain. He moved to Los Angeles in 2000 and continued his creative pursuits by producing and acting in four award-winning short films including I Believe (Best Short, Moondance International Film Festival) and Up In the Air (Best Short, 168 Hour Film Festival). He's written four feature screenplays: Over the Monster (Recently optioned by The Sam Houston Southwest Film Investment Fund, and Winner, Best Screenplay, Woods Hole Film Festival), The Return of the Santa Fe Super Chief (semi-finalist at PAGE), June Grace (2018), On Ramps/Off Ramps (2018). He's also written a drama TV series pilot, Hollywood Hospital (2019), and two highly reviewed novels. In 2014, he taught screenwriting as an adjunct at Stevenson University in Maryland. He presently lives with his wife and daughter in Lexington, Massachusetts.
