Mark Kerins grew up all over the U.S. Midwest but calls Neenah, Wisconsin home. After high school, he attended Valparaiso University, where he earned degrees in chemistry and math. From there he shifted gears and headed to Northwestern University, where he earned his M.A. and Ph.D. in Radio/TV/Film. As of 2011, he is an Associate Professor of Film & Media Arts at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, where he teaches classes in film production and post-production and is the faculty advisor for the Student Filmmakers Association (SFA). His research work focuses on surround sound, sound design, and the relationship between film studies and film production.
