Patrick Mark is an award winning director, producer and writer of documentary films. He has covered art, culture and conflict around the world for over twenty years. As well as producing and directing feature documentaries for international theatrical release, he has delivered commissions for broadcasters such as National Geographic, Discovery, Smithsonian Networks, NBC, BBC, Channel 4, ITV, RTE & RAI. His productions have taken him from live coverage of 'shock and awe' in Baghdad (2003) and across the Middle East to Russia, Central Asia, South Asia, South East Asia, much of Sub-Saharan Africa and Central America. He has particular experience of working in India, having made several one-off films and series there. He has written, directed and produced films on subjects ranging from Formula 1 motorsport to Egyptology, Indian colonial history, African wildlife, Buddhist art and Imperial Russia. At the beginning of his career, Patrick produced in-house promotional clips at Christie's the auctioneers before embarking on an independent filmmaking career. His first documentary was for the Omnibus strand at BBC and examined the controversial life of the late Eric Hebborn, a prolific art forger. Patrick is chairman of the trustees of Elephant Family, the Asian elephant charity. He is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical and Royal Asiatic Societies. He lives in London with his wife Emma and their two children.
