Adrian Weale is a soldier, writer, historian and journalist, specialising in military, intelligence and political issues. He was born in London in 1964, educated at the Latymer Upper School and the University of York and received professional training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. As a military intelligence officer, he served in Berlin during the Cold War, Northern Ireland, Central America, Iraq and Afghanistan. He began his career as a writer after leaving the regular army in 1992 and has published fifteen works of non-fiction as author or ghostwriter; contributed to a number of UK national newspapers; and regularly appears on TV and radio as a commentator on defence, intelligence and military history subjects. He has also pursued a parallel career as a reserve officer in the British Army. He is married to businesswoman and politician Mary Weale and they live in London and south-west France with their three children.
