Rain Bennett is a two time Emmy-nominated filmmaker, writer, and competitive storyteller. Born into a blue-collar family in "Little" Washington, North Carolina, Bennett spent his early years toggling back and forth between his identities as both an athlete and an artist. When he realized he wasn't going to be an athlete forever, he shifted his focus to the arts and went to school for Media Production to become a filmmaker. He worked on local independent productions and studied under documentary filmmakers. In 2008, Bennett created Flying Flounder Productions and specialized in telling real stories that touch the heart. Eventually, Bennett found the opportunity to marry both of his passions, filmmaking and fitness, in what would become his flagship film. He directed and produced his first feature length documentary by traveling the world with just a backpack and a Canon DSLR camera. That film, Raise Up: The World is Our Gym won "Best of the Fest" at the Hip Hop Film Festival in 2016 and Bennett secured a deal with Red Bull Media House for worldwide distribution the following year. After five years of struggling to make this film, he learned that no matter how under-resourced someone is when making a movie, if the story is great, it can have a massive impact. Now he takes that knowledge and those skills and uses them to help marketers and business creatives leverage video storytelling in their marketing strategies to deepen their impact on communities and the world. Bennett has been featured in publications like Men's Health and Sports Business Global, has contributed to Huffington Post, Breaking Muscle, and Chapelboro, and hosts a podcast called The Storytelling Lab, where he breaks down the art and science of storytelling. Rain Bennett is loving life as a new father and as of 2018 resides in Durham, North Carolina, where he enjoys teaching people storytelling, working with the youth, and staying in shape with calisthenics and soccer. His mission is simple: to make the world happier and healthier by sharing stories of change.
