Rejane Zilles is a filmmaker, actress, director and curator of MIMO film festival. She was born in Morro Reuter (Rio Grande do Sul) and lives in Rio de Janeiro for more than 20 years, where she's based. She's graduated in Performing Arts at the Federal University of the Estate of Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO). Rejane was born and raised in this village of German origin in southern Brazil and learned to speak Portuguese only when she was seven years old when she entered school. Her filming process traces a symbolic return to her place of origin and her documentaries project this region far beyond its geographical horizons. In her cinematographic career, she produced and directed the short film The Book Of Walachai - screened at about thirty film festivals in and outside Brazil. She premiered as a feature director in the Walachai documentary - released on a national circuit in 2013, with great repercussion to date in national and international festivals and theaters. Recently, the film ended a circuit of exhibitions in Germany, in the region of the Hunsrück. Her most recent work is the documentary Scholles - Seeds of Color, about the plastic artist Flávio Scholles, where she signs script and direction. The film was finalized in 2016 and makes its career in national and international film festivals. Received the prize of Better Soundtrack at XI Curta Canoa, in Ceará. She also directed and produced the DVD Jards Macalé Ao Vivo, with appearances by Luiz Melodia and Zeca Baleiro. As an actress, she worked in theater, film and television. She was on the cast of several telenovelas of TV Globo and in the cinema she acted in Cronicamente Inviável - by Sergio Bianchi, Vox Populli - by Marcelo Lafitte, Chico Xavier - by Daniel Filho and Nove Crônicas para um Coração aos Berros - by Gustavo Galvão She is the curator and director of the MIMO Film Festival - which takes place in Paraty, Olinda, Rio de Janeiro and in the city of Amarante, in Portugal.
