Anastasia Simone was born in New York. She graduated New York University, Tisch School of the Arts with a BFA in photography and art history. She was a member of the notorious all-girl punk band The Resentments alongside Jenni Muldaur, Pat Place and Julia Murphy playing the lower East side of Manhattan in the 90's. Anastasia moved to California where her musical sensibility combined with her visual acumen, led her to produce over a hundred music videos for legends such as Faith Hill, Bob Dylan, Snoop, Blink 182, Deftones, KD Lang, 3 Doors Down, Chris Isaac, Redman, Methodman, Nine Days, Carole King, Biz Markie, Seal, etc., working with a quiver of recognized, iconic directors. In 2002, Anastasia debuted as a director with Los Lobos 25th Anniversary Documentary celebrating their lifelong passion for music, released on their CD "Good Morning Aztlán"; immediately followed by her music video for Norah Jones's "Don't Know Why", nominated for best MTV award, top VH1 hit and earning Norah six Grammies. Her next music video, for Chantal Kreviazuk. was given honors at the Much Music Awards; both videos were featured on top-count downs on VH1 and MTV2. She directed music videos through the new defunct LA Production companies Villains and DNA. She resides in Los Angeles with her son, Ulysses.
