Mini-Biography Over the past 30-plus years that Jon Macht has spent building his career, his resume includes writing, directing, producing, editing and working in all aspects on films and television shows that are instantly recognizable. Macht worked as a vendor and in production for 16 years on shows including American Idol, Motown Live, Star Trek Enterprise, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, Babylon 5, Beverly Hills 90210, Melrose Place, the Academy Awards, the Emmy Awards, and on hundreds of episodes of television and on feature films. Macht worked on films including Steven Spielberg's An American Tale, Sylvestor Stallone's Rambo III, and Rob Reiner's Stand by Me. As a producer/director/writer, Macht has five projects in production or development. Four feature films: Proxima 7, Untitled Military project, Untitled Music Project, Just the Right Amount of Wrong. And a music competition series for television. Macht is producing with several producing partners and directing several of these projects. Macht is producing the Sci Fi feature film "Proxima 7" with Star Trek actor/director Tim Russ. Macht, Russ and screenwriter Alexx Van Dyne collaborated on the story and treatment for "Proxima 7" with the screenplay written by Van Dyne. Russ directed Star Trek Renegades working with Macht who was the Supervising Post Producer, Visual Effects Producer, Visual Effects Editor, and Visual Effects Director of Photography: San Francisco on that film. The film stars veteran Star Trek and Sci Fi actors Walter Koenig, Adrienne Wilkinson, Tim Russ, Robert Picardo, Gary Graham, Richard Herd, Sean Young, Edward Furlong, and Corin Nemec. Two projects wrapped production, A dramatic short film Compassion Can't Wait (production wrapped), the Earth Day Global broadcast for the Earth Day Network and peacechannel.com (production wrapped). Macht wrote, directed, produced & edited Compassion Can't Wait based on a true life story starring Kat Graham, Olivia Hostalek, Valerie Varda, Craig Robert Young, Joao Bounassar, Jackie Jones. Macht directed, produced & edited Hosts Ed Begley, Jr. and Rachelle Carson-Begley in the Earth Day Network's global broadcast. Produced by Dr. Darlene Shelton, David Weinberg and Bill McCarthy. Macht directed, produced & edited the One World One Love - Vernon Ice Black music video that reached more than 1 million viewers in 48 hours for the UN Peace Day global broadcast on peacechannel.com. Macht directed and produced segments for McCarthy on the United Nations International Day of Peace for three prior years. Macht is pitching a music competition television series with producing partners Mark Rains and Scott Allen. The series idea and format was created by Macht, Rains and Allen and is represented by agents and being presented to production companies and networks. Macht and Rains have worked together since the early 1990's when they produced Best of Comedy Live along with producer Sheila Conlin. Alan Carter who today is the director of NBC's hit show The Voice directed Best of Comedy Live. Conlin was the casting director on Compassion Can't Wait. Rains is a former Executive in Charge of Production at BBC Worldwide, Den of Thieves, Ryan Seacrest Productions, Endemol and Fremantle Media. Macht directed and edited the presentation with editor Travis Henning. Cinematography on the sizzle reel by David E. West, who is known for his work on American Idol, X Factor, Duets and MTV's Music in High Places. Macht created and developed a music television series Behind the Song for then Virgin Produced Head of Television Michael Forman. Macht also adapted a novel Deadlocked into a one hour drama pilot script for a legal thriller television series on writing assignment for Forman. Macht is producing the film drama Just the Right Amount of Wrong based on the novel published by Harper Collins. Screenwriter Larry Hulse adapted his novel into the screenplay. Macht is a Producer, Writer, Director, Editor. Prior to founding his own company, Macht worked in the talent and literary agency business at Agency for the Performing Arts and United Talent Agency. Macht began his career as a freelance sports writer for The Washington Post at age 19, which led to writing for TV and radio at ABC, NBC, and CBS sports and eventually where he wanted to be -- film. Macht studied filmmaking at the University of Southern California Graduate School of Cinema-Television in Los Angeles and communications at University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia. Macht was born in Hagerstown, Maryland to father Dr. Stanley H. Macht, a radiologist and mother Naomi Macht, a homemaker. He grew up in Hagerstown, graduating from North Hagerstown High School.
