During his 35-year career in television and film, Carlo Gennarelli has earned 14 Emmy Awards and 2 International Monitor Awards as both editor and producer. He has been involved with a variety of TV programs for every major American television network and cable outlet. Contributions to milestone programming such as "ABC News Nightline." "Inside the Actor's Studio," and 9 Olympic Broadcasts from 1984 to 2006, highlight his achievements. While continuing to contribute to the TV industry, as well as producing his own independent films, Carlo Gennarelli is also an Associate Professor at Hofstra University in New York, teaching classes in television production and studies. His latest independent documentary feature, "Made by Immigrants (2022)," is an autobiographical tale of an American son of Italian immigrants from the same small countryside town. As an adult he discovers hidden documents, photos and letters belonging to his deceased parents. These artifacts prove to be a revelation that prompts him to investigate his genetic roots. By doing this, a new and unexpected world opens up, exposing the complex saga of immigration in America during the early 20th century. In 2012 he directed, produced, and edited the international award-winning documentary, "Ordinary Joe." This feature-length film tells the tale of an ordinary American blue-collar worker and Vietnam veteran who now annually returns to Southeast Asia to help the poor, diseased, and disabled. This moving documentary was accepted for worldwide distribution through PBS International. He has also edited and produced many television documentaries for A&E, Bravo, CBS, Discovery, ESPN, and NBC. Drawing on his passion for classic rock music, Gennarelli directed, produced, edited, and co-wrote a 2-hour special for Discovery Network entitled "Temples of Rock (2003)," revisiting the seminal theaters, studios, and clubs in rock and roll history. For it, he conducted exclusive interviews with dozens of rock icons such as Graham Nash, Johnny Ramone, Smokey Robinson, and Ringo Starr. Gennarelli's contributions to "The Great Zamperini," a biographical documentary aired as part of the 1998 Olympic Winter Games on CBS, garnered him an Outstanding Program Achievement Emmy Award. This critically acclaimed 40-minute short film about an American Olympian, detailing his ordeal as a POW in World War II became the impetus for the bestselling book, "Unbroken" and the subsequent feature film. Carlo is a graduate of NYU and holds a Master's degree in Studio Art. Prior to his television/film career, he was an exhibiting artist in New York's Soho art district with works in the collections of several university galleries around the nation. He maintains that his artistic background has helped define his success in the film and television arena.
