At age 22 Jean Luc wrote and directed his first film entitled "The Last Unemployed Man" - a twenty five-minute film shot in super 8. This experience was so inspiring that he decided to become a film director. He obtained his diploma in Fine Arts from the Université d' Aix en Provence, achieving first place in all of France in artistic creation in the general competitive examination. He then became an art professor in the French National Education System. After 7 years teaching art, he was then admitted to NYU Graduate School of Film and TV; amongst his classmates were: Jim Jarmusch, Ang Lee, and Spike Lee. He returned to France in the eighties, and became an assistant director for advertisements and feature films. He worked with Edouard Molinaro, Just Jaeckin, Sarah Moon, Oliver Assayas, among others. In animated films, he saw an opportunity to combine his passions for drawing and film. He became screenwriter and director. In 2000, he directed Diabolik, a co-production between Fox, M6, and Media 7 with a budget of 18 million dollars. This series was distributed throughout the world. Five years ago, Jean-Luc decided he must return to live-action film. He plans to direct three short films followed by one feature. The three shorts were filmed and distributed with great success. JLA is now involved in the production of his first feature film - "Me, Myself, Van Gogh, and God" - a comedy that will be shot in English. The filming will take place in the beginning of spring 2011, it will be shot in the South of France.
