A Native of Berkeley California, Daryl "stumbled" into his passion for the arts while taking a basic Acting fundamentals course and while earning a degree in Radio, Television and Film production at Chapman University. (1986) That passion was placed on hold while Daryl relocated himself back to the Bay Area for a position as an officer in a bank.(1990). After a 15 year stint in the Financial Services, Luxury Retail, and Hgh Tech industries, which included a brief 4 year marriage, Daryl secured his first agency representation with Stars, the Agency, San Francisco, California in March of 2004 with the help of James Brooks, who was directing him in his second community theatre show. It only took 3 attempts before the agency "heard" something in Daryl. Daryl was quickly blessed with numerous opportunities in the Commercial market. Cultivating a relationship with Carol H. Williams Advertising in Oakland California, Daryl had recurring Voice Over roles for the GMC brand.(2005) Continuing with his love of theatre and a thirst to learn more about the craft, Daryl received his first non-community theatre opportunity.(2003) A role in a Broadway-style musical production with Theatreworks called "Memphis", music composed by David Bryan, keyboardist and co-founder of the rock band Bonjovi! Although the role was only as an understudy chorus dancer, the experience of being involved in a show with seasoned vets was transformative as Daryl, approached it as a learning experience first. Daryl has gone on to be a part of over 30 full length live theatre shows, most of which took place from 2003-2008. Some highlights of his artistic journey include recent Voice Over work as the narrator for multiple ongoing commercials on Radio, TV, and Internet for the Honda campaign, "Ask", Northern California Honda Dealers, (2019/2020), principal work as the husband on national Google Assist commercial, (2019), looping opportunities on a national Capital One commercial and the feature film, "Zodiac", directed by David Fincher,(2007). Theatre highlights include the lead in James Baldwin's "Sonny's Blues" a short story adapted into a full length play by Word For Word Theatre Company in San Francisco, California and directed by Margo Hall, (2008). A principal role in "Short Eyes, written by Miguel Pinero and directed by Julian Acosta, performed for the first time anywhere since 1972 at the Los Angeles Theatre Centre in Los Angeles, California. (2012) The most challenging highlight was provided by the afore mentioned lead role in Sonny's Blues, a short story written by James Baldwin. This was Daryl's first touring opportunity and first overseas visit to France where it was performed in 4 cities to packed and delighted audiences! (2008) Shortly after, Daryl transplanted himself to Los Angeles where he has appeared as a principal in festival award winning feature films, "Meipporul", directed by Natty Kumar and "Everyday Black Man", directed by Carmen Madden.
