Laura Amelia Guzmán

Born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, in 1980, she is a director, screenwriter, and producer. Known for her collaboration with Israel Cárdenas on films such as Jean Gentil (2010), Dólares de Areia (2014), and A Fera e a Festa (2019), her work has been screened at festivals in Berlin, Venice, and Toronto. In 2023, she made her solo debut with A Menina, presented at the 47th Mostra, consolidating her authorial vision of displacement, memory, and human connection.
