Andrew Freund

Andrew Freund graduated from UCSB at age 19, with a 4.0 GPA. He began working in the corporate world in Japan while still a teenager. He had excelled in sports and martial arts like soccer, track, basketball, kendo, tai chi, aikido, and more, and continued doing martial arts while working in Japan. Back in California, Andrew brought his knowledge from Japan to establish USA Sumo. Outside of Japan, he is the world's foremost producer of sumo tournaments, demonstrations, lectures, and other events, for audiences around the globe. At just 150 pounds, he continues to practice and compete in sumo himself (since the mid-90s), and has competed at the highest levels, representing the USA. Andrew Freund was inducted into the Martial Arts History Museum Hall of Fame in 2010,
