S.C. Smith co-wrote and co-produced his first film, Letters from Eddie, in 1997. The film was distributed by Access Films, the company that produced Napoleon Dynamite. His next project was the Val Kilmer-narrated documentary in which Smith served as co-writer and associate producer. In 2009, Smith wrote, directed, and produced the award-winning short animation film Love Life of Cromwell Rogers. The film won top prize at Best of Boston's Open Screen Film Festival and premiered at the Brattle Theater in Cambridge, Massachusetts. In 2010, Smith began writing books of fiction. Mexican Hit Girl was his debut thriller novel which charted to number six on Amazon's best-selling list for political thrillers. As of 2022, he's written a total of four novels, two in the Mason Church series, and two standalone books. Smith is producing the completed adaptations of his books for film and television.
