Nova Scotian dance artist and actor, Véronique MacKenzie, is an eclectic choreographer and performer who continues to entertain audiences with the exploration of comedic and traditional genres as well as collaborative and site-specific work. A recipient of one of Nova Scotia's prestigious Established Artist Awards, and two-time recipient of Live Art's Diane Moore Scholarship for choreography, Véronique has presented her work across the country in a variety of festivals and productions. Her television credits include Canadian CBC comedy show "Mr. D", Street Cents, and most recently choreography for POP TV's new show, "Let's Get Physical" starring Jane Seymour, Matt Jones, and Chris Diamantopoulos. Her collaborations with artists such as Susan Tooke and Lukas Pearse (Depths of Sorrow, Motion Activated), videographer Ariella Pahlke, and media artist, Nicholas Bottomley, have taken her into the exciting world of electronics, video, and computer imaging. After receiving scholarships in the Interrarium Creative residency at Banff and at the Centre for Art Tapes in Halifax, Véronique created her first film entitled "She Wakes up Gasping", an interactive media piece for which she is now in active creation for the cross disciplinary performance aspect. One of her most recent site-specific pieces entitled "Storm Dances" was presented in one of this decade's most intense storms which garnered national media attention. Véronique is currently touring her one-woman show entitled "You, Me, and One Piece of Chalk" She is on faculty at the NSCAD University, Neptune Theatre School, The Fountain School of Performing Arts (Dalhousie University) and Halifax Dance. She is on the boards of Dance Nova Scotia, and Keep Good (Theatre) Company and she is the Atlantic rep for the Dancer Transition Resource Centre out of Toronto.
