Matt Zimbel is a filmmaker, musician, broadcast executive, artistic director, television and radio show host. He is the son of famed photographer George Zimbel. He was born in New York City but moved to Prince Edward Island, Canada at age 14. In his late teens he was touring North America as a percussionist, and has recorded over 70 records as a session musician. He has performed with Daniel Lanois, Leonard Cohen, Kevin Parent and many others. He is a member and the leader of the jazz band Manteca. He was appointed Vice President of Progamming for MusicMax Television in Montreal. His stories have appeared in the Toronto Star, the Globe and Mail and others. Zimbel has served on the board of directors for the Canadian Academy of Arts and Sciences. He was President of the board of directors of the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame. Matt Zimbel holds dual Canadian and American citizenship and lives in Montreal.
