Joe is a native of Northern California, born in Berkeley and raised in San Francisco and Oakland. As a child he also lived in the rural maritime areas of Long Island, New York, and the countryside of New Jersey where he first discovered his acting talents in several stage productions when he was chosen to play lead roles. He was also recognized at a very young age for his writing skills as an author of short stories. Show Business, acting, and performing were always in Joe's blood. He is the grandson of two actors who were in the business in the 1920's, maternal grandfather, Giuseppe Carcione, a star tenor in the San Francisco Metropolitan Opera, and his father's father, Arthur L. Amos Sr., a former Hollywood cowboy actor and stand-in for Edward G. Robinson. Joe also has an uncle, a sister, and a cousin in the business. Joe wanted to act professionally since he first saw the film releases of "West Side Story" and "Li' l Abner" but he spent the first two-thirds of his life as a successful California Vehicle Dealer in the special interest and vintage automobile markets and as an executive in the environmental field where he specialized in assisting major U.S. industries comply with their toxic waste clean-up and hazardous waste management and recycling, at a time when the public was only beginning to understand the importance of ecological management. During this period he also raised his children. He returned to professional acting in 2004 and has been a leading and supporting actor in a few small film productions and has studied with top instructors throughout the SF/Bay Area and in Los Angeles. He is recognized for his intensity, focus, commitment to the craft, and his versatility, as he is able to transform into wide ranges of characters, among them, contemplative sea captain, devoted husband and father, sidekick, sexy bad boy, psychologist, biker, a very serious or very uncertain assassin, and numerous other mainstream and off-beat characters. Among industry professionals, Joe has been referred to as a "Teddy Bear in Lone Wolf's Clothing," the "Bright and Heady Blue-Collar Guy," the "Wandering Wise Man from the East and West," the "Vigilant Family Doberman who Plays with the Cat," the "Sheriff who Faces Off with the Outlaws at the Edge of Town." Joe has written three feature length screenplays, one is in "Pitch" status, one is heading into "Pitch" status, and one that he has converted into two 100,000 word novels beginning with a period prequel and followed by its contemporary sequel. He will be publishing soon and re-adapting to TV series format. Joe lives in the sweet little community of Mill Valley, California, ten minutes north of the Golden Gate Bridge. He has been certified in the addiction field, and volunteers his time and expertise in assisting those who seek to overcome core addiction issues.
