Born in 1974 in Olhão, on the south coast of sunny Algarve, Portugal. Two siblings. Graduate in Chemical Engineering by the Polytechnic of Coimbra. Made a dramatic life change when she decided to abandon an academic career to pursue one in make-up for cinema and television. Because the taste for teaching had stuck, Iris still teaches, at the Art and Design School Academy of Porto, Portugal. She is a consultant and teacher at Make-up Forever. Currently living in Lisbon (2013). Best friends with producer Natalia Guimaraes. Worked with directors Manoel de Oliveira (the oldest living working director in the world), , Christopher Menaul, Valeria Sarmiento, Jean Paul-Rouve, José Fonseca e Costa, Manuel Mozos, Mário Barroso, Francisco Manso, Manuel Amaro da Costa, Jorge Paixão da Costa, FJ Ossang, Fanny Ardant, and Carlos Coelho da Silva. Recently worked with John Malkovich, Franco Nero, Gérard Depardieu, Patrick Bauchau, Asia Argento, Anna Mouglalis.(2012) Iris is the first make-up artist to win a Sophia, the Portuguese Cinema Academy awards (2013), for her work in Lines of Wellington, by director Valeria Sarmiento and producer Paulo Branco. Currently (2014) working on the TV series "Houdini", staring Adrien Brody.
