Dagogo Diminas is a film director and producer from Nigeria. He is best known for his makeup and special effects works in Nollywood films. He contributed to building the Nigerian film industry that is globally renowned for its high rate of film productions. Dagogo's arts in special effect has brought him several awards and honours. He moved to South Africa in the year 2000, a country he refers to as his second home, and worked for over 15 years in the art departments of films like U-Carmen (Golden Bear 2005), Breathe Umphefumlo (Berlinale Special 2015), Wake of Death (Jean-Claude van Damme) and 10, 000 B.C. (Roland Emmerich). His first film as director and producer was Stigma (2013), which won him several awards including one AMAA Award (2015), two ZAFAA Awards (2015), three AMVCA nominations including Best Film West Africa. The movie also brought him the Award of Merit (Social Justice) at the Accolade Global Film Competition (USA). Stigma was screened at several film festivals and was a boxoffice hit (DSTV, Iroko). The film was part of an African wide campaign against the stigmatization of people living with HIV/AIDS. In 2016, Dagogo Diminas and the Nollywood star actress, Hilda Dokubo made the film ASAWANA (2017). The movie is about women empowerment in the Niger Delta. It was premiered at the Cardiff International Film Festival in Paris and screened at the Afro-American Festival in Cannes. Dagogo studied Theater Arts at the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria, Digital Film Productions at the SAE Institute Berlin and Film Production at the Middlesex University, United Kingdom.
