Born in Philadelphia, Joachim "Jack" Polito graduated from West Philadelphia Catholic High School in 1959 and worked at Philadelphia's DeFrenes Studio. He worked as a cameraman and director and eventually as general manager of Animation Arts Associates. After making several short films in Philadelphia, Polito worked in Hollywood as a special effects assistance on "Lost in Space" and "The Time Tunnel." In 1980, he founded Production House, which began working on industrial animation and television commercials for clients like Welch's, Honda, and military contractor Raytheon Corp. A lifelong fan of King Kong, Polito has amassed a wealth of memorabilia related to the films. His correspondence with "King Kong" (1933) director Merian C. Cooper is held in the Harold B. Lee Library of Brigham Young University.
