This Toronto-born filmmaker has been creating his distinct brand of genre cinema since the early 2000s. His passion for the craft planted from childhood when Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho left him spellbound. An ardent student of film, in particular horror, he spent 12 years as a critic for the prestigious Bloody Disgusting, covering TIFF during the prominent transition from print to online journalism. Pereira's blend of dark humor and genre thrills has been entertaining audiences since festival hit Spookslayers was unleashed in 2013. His filmography includes the award-winning feature The Chamber of Terror (2021), along with festival favorite shorts Zandavi Lives (2018), Deathbox (2015), and The Resurrections of Clarence Neveldine (2014).
