Filippo M. Prandi is an award-nominated filmmaker as well as a worldwide renowned photographer. Born and raised in Bologna, Italy. He obtained his college degree in philosophy and fine arts at the University of Bologna (DAMS) in 2006. While attending DAMS, Filippo began his career as a filmmaker when he made two experimental projects; the short film "Short Time" which was broadcast on Italian national television and the feature film titled "Incompleto", which was nominated at the Bologna European Festival of Film Schools as well as the Salerno International Film Festival. In 2007 he moved to New York where he attended the New York Film Academy; he completed his filmmaking program in 2008. In 2009-2010 he worked for the production company Optic Nerve USA, located in Brooklyn, NY. Under the supervision of video editor / filmmaker Jon Kane, Filippo worked on the editing of several web and TV commercials, including "Billy Elliot - the Broadway Show", "Chicago - The Broadway show", "Nintendo DSi - Jamie Lidell Music Video", and one "Green Giant" commercial. In 2011 he signed on with Aspland Management and has been represented by Dennis Aspland (agent of Oscar winners Milos Forman, Jean-Claude Carriere and Peter Shaffer) ever since. Filippo Prandi has had two screenplays optioned, including two projects ("The Amytal Therapy" and "Annex 1". "Annex 1", an international spy-story set in a post 9/11 world, is currently in pre-production with Italian actors Marco D'Amore (TV series "Gomorrah") and Volpi Cup Nominee Francesco Di Leva ("The Mayor of Rione Sanità") set to star. Eric Roberts is also attached to the project. In 2015 Filippo began working professionally as a portrait photographer, focusing exclusively in long-exposure / light-painting photography. Another defining aspect of Filippo Prandi's photography is his use of 35mm film. From 2015 to 2018 Filippo's photographic work was been displayed at the Manhattan gallery Viridian Artists. In 2020 Filippo signed on with the Brooklyn-located 17 Frost Gallery. Since he began shooting portraits, many illustrious artists have sat down for Filippo's notorious "triple portrait" (a long exposure 35mm film photograph during which the subject's image gets captured in three different positions throughout the frame). Among them we find novelists Antonio Monda and Patrick McGrath, photographer Gianfranco Lelj as well as filmmakers Pupi Avati, Dito Montiel, Jack Sholder, Mark Pellington, Claudio Fragasso, Academy Award Nominee Paul Schrader, 2-Time-Academy Award Winner Paul Haggis. In 2016, 2017 and 2018 Filippo Prandi had competed at SetUp Contemporary Art; one of the most prestigious art shows in Europe. In 2018 Filippo produced wrote and edited the short movie "The Amytal Therapy" based on the feature film script which has been optioned and it's now in pre-production. In 2019 "The Amytal Therapy" was selected at Chelsea Film Festival, where it received the Nominations for Best Short Film, Best Original Screenplay as well as the Award for Best Supporting Actor. In the same year Chelsea Film Festival was selected by USA Today as one of the top 10 most prestigious film festivals in North America. In the summer of 2020, Filippo Prandi made his directorial debut with the feature film "My Last Best Friend", which he wrote and produced, starring Academy Award Nominee Eric Roberts and Carol Alt. In the same year the movie was nominated at the Chelsea Film Festival for Best Feature Film, Best Directing, Best Actor (Eric Roberts), Best Actress (Carol Alt) and Best Original Screenplay. The movie has been picked by American distributor Sky Island Films for theatrical distribution. As of 2021 Filippo Prandi is in pre-production with the feature films "Annex 1", "The Amytal Therapy" and "My Oldest Friend" (sequel / prequel to "My Last Best Friend").
