He became HDP's Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality mayoral candidate in the 2014 local elections, but did not win. In the general elections of 7 June 2015 and 1 November 2015, he was elected as the 25th and 26th Term Ankara Deputy from the Peoples' Democratic Party and entered the Turkish Grand National Assembly.
