Biography

Enayat Delawary's passion for Afghanistan; its people, diverse culture and historical significance, is evident in every aspect of his life. Born in Kabul, Afghanistan, Enayat was exposed to the lives of all Afghans, whether in remote villages or the highest levels of government, by his father, a top advisor to King Zahir Shah. From a young age, Enayat studied the varied cultural traditions and mastered the languages of the different ethnic and tribal areas of the region. In 1971, after graduating from the Nedjat (high school,) he worked as a tourist and mountain guide to deepen his understanding of the diverse geography of Afghanistan. In 1973, Enayat moved to Germany where he received his Masters Degree in Social and Political Science. While in Germany, he worked closely with renowned scholars, filmmakers and journalists translating books and documentary films.
