Peilin Kuo is an award-winning filmmaker born in Taiwan and based in New York. After graduating with a drama degree from her homeland, she worked for a production company in Taipei which made music videos, commercials, and television programs. She relocated to New York in 2002 and started to pursue her career as an independent filmmaker. Her first short film "Everyday" won the "Someone to Watch 2005" from the CineWomen NY and was broadcast by PBS "Reel New York" in 2007. Her short film "A.K.A.08494####" was awarded the "First Runner Up" and the "Most Original" from the "72 Hours Film Shootout" competition, 2005. Her music video "true story" was screened at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival. Her short film "Private Party" was an official selection at the 2008 Cleveland International Film Festival, and won the Golden Palm award from the 2009 Mexico International Film Festival. Her latest short film "Prescott Place" was nominated for "Excellence in Short Filmmaking" award at the 2011 Asian American International Film Festival, and was part of "Short Film Corner" at the 64th Cannes Film Festival 2011. "Prescott Place" was an official selection at the 2012 Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival, and won a "Honorable Mention" award from Asian On Film Festival 2012. "Prescott Place" is distributed by the SnagFilms. In 2013, Peilin was invited to be one of the judges for the short film competition at the 36th Asian American International Film Festival. Her new project is a feature length biopic of the first Chinese American actress Anna May Wong.
