Ken Thompson was born in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1983. He was only a year old when he and his parents moved back to the United States. His father being a doctor in the military, he spent his childhood and adolescent years in Hawaii and later Georgia before moving to North Carolina to attend college. Following his graduation from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington where he was a Business Marketing major, he moved to New York City to model and pursue acting. His first acting audition was for the role of Rusty in the Indie NASCAR film "Ta Ra Rum Pum" by Yash Raj Films. Ironically, the film took him back to North Carolina where a portion of the movie was filmed on location at the North Carolina Motor Speedway.
