David Boisclair is an award-winning Canadian filmmaker/producer based in Los Angeles who has a bold artistic vision rooted in the mixing of genres. For more than fifteen years, he has created works for motion pictures and television, as well as branded content, that skillfully combine distinctive storytelling and aesthetics with modern production standards. After graduating with distinction from Concordia University in Film Production and attending the highly selective Canadian National Film and Sound Institute, David started a prolific film and television career that has earned him much esteem and recognition for his achievements in English and French. He has worked on dozens of sets, both on location and in the control room, for several television networks. David is an accomplished and versatile multitasker: his filmography includes 21 awards and nominations, as well as 500 episodes for over 65 productions, ranging from documentaries, comedies, science magazines and reality TV shows to history magazines, youth programs and scripted content. The outstanding quality of his work was recognized with two Gemini Award nominations by the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television. The first nomination, in the category Best Documentary Program or Series, was for The Hole in my Head, a feature documentary that he created and directed. The second nomination, in the category Best Digital Production for a Scripted Program or Series, was for the acclaimed Canadian series 19-2, for which he directed a ten-episode documentary series for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC). 19-2 was such a hit that David directed a six-episode documentary series on its English adaptation for Bravo, Acorn TV and CTV. He also directed numerous highly acclaimed productions for CBC, such as the French-Canadian version of Dancing with the Stars entitled Le match des étoiles. For the big screen, David directed, wrote and produced Ladies and Gentlemen, a short film that launched him onto the international stage. This musical, starring 26 seven-year-olds, had its world premiere as the opening film at The World Film Festival and brought home the Audience Award for Best Canadian Short Film. The film went on to have a successful run in movie theaters and was invited to compete in official competition at numerous international film festivals, including the prestigious International Festival of Audiovisual Programs (FIPA) in Biarritz, France. With his boutique production companies, Picture Lock Entertainment in Los Angeles and Picture Lock Productions in Montreal, he recently directed and produced Destination, an original documentary travel series for Air Canada. David is developing several feature documentaries, documentary series and multiplatform concepts with an international scope.
