Zbigniew Bzymek graduated from The Polish National Film School in 2008. In 2009, he received a fellowship in film from The New York Foundation for the Arts and held an artist residency at Digital Performance Institute and was co-recipient of a MAP grant. He has worked as a theatre/ video artist, director and cinematographer. His mid-length diploma film for The Polish National Film School, Nagle na zawsze (Suddenly Forever), received the grand prix du jury at Rencontres Internationales Henri Langlois in Poitiers in 2008 as well as 1st prize at Young Cinema Arts in Warsaw and 1st Prize at Offcinema International (Poznan). His experimental narrative film, Utopians premiered at The Berlin International Film Festival in 2011 and was picked up by ARSENAL: Institut für Film und Videokunst and released in theaters in Germany in 2012. His work has been screened at Berlinale, Sundance, Locarno, BAM cinefest, Anthology Film Archives, CPH-PIX, New Horizons Film Festival (Wroclaw), Next Reel International Film Festival (Singapore), FilmPolska Film Festival, East End Film Festival (London), Mediawave International Festival, Bologna Film Festival, Off Cinema International Festival, The Polish National Film Festival, and the Düsseldorf Filmmuseum. He has also performed in Troilus & Cressida, The Wooster Group's collaboration with the Royal Shakespeare Company and danced in Jerôme Bel's The Show Must Go On at The Museum of Modern Art in New York. He holds a master of arts degree in directing from The Polish National Film School in Lodz as well as a bachelor of arts degree in English and Russian Language from Bowdoin College.
