John Kirby

Born in Holywood (County Down, Ireland), he spent a long, fruitful career as a teacher in his adopted home, Hamburg, until his retirement in 2014, while indulging in an acting career 'on the side'. His main focus was and is the stage, where he has played such varying roles as George in 'Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf', Henry Higgins in 'My Fair Lady', Scrooge in Dickens' 'Christmas Carol', Big Daddy in Tennessee Williams' ' Cat on a Hot Tin Roof' and Frank in Brian Friel's 'Faith Healer'.
