Monica Richardson is a director, producer, activist, singer, and songwriter. She is known for her groundbreaking Documentary The 13th Step, award-winning film voted Best Documentary at the Beverly Hills Film Festival, available on AMAZON Prime, Tubi and Vimeo, which exposes the dark underbelly of America's long time revered support groups- Alcoholics Anonymous. Five years of research and investigation brought many truths to light, including the murder of 40 year old Kristine Cass and her 13 year old daughter, Saundra Cass in Hawaii in August of 2010. Richardson studied comedy at The Grounding's in the 1980's with fellow actors, Conan O'Brien and Damon Wayans. She studied Meisner at Play House West with Shawnee Smith and Heather Graham. Richardson has a podcast called Safe Recovery with over 350 shows that can be found on iTunes. She is a leading advocate in changing how substance overuse is treated and regulated in the USA. With a team of passionate activists Richardson is working on her next Documentary and recording her third CD. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband Kevin Michael Richardson a busy voice- over actor. Richardson was born and raised in northern Manhattan, a neighborhood known as Inwood. She would relocate to Hawaii for eight years before finally settling in Los Angeles to pursue a career as an actor and singer. She has released three albums and lent her voice to the animated series Batman and Sofia the First, as well as numerous national commercials. She is a vocal and passionate supporter of victims harmed in the addiction recovery industry. Richardson appeared on Katie Couric's "Katie" to discuss The 13th Step film, as well as her life story, which was featured in the New York Times best-seller, Her Best Secret - Why Women Drink, by journalist Gabrielle Glaser. She was featured in the CBS 48 Hours episode, The Sober Truth, which detailed the murder of Karla Brada.
