Meng-Hua Yang

Actress
Date of birth : 1951
City of birth : Keelung, Taiwan

A Joseph Kuo discovery of 1966, Taiwan based Union Film Company had high hopes banking on young studio-groomed Yang Meng-hua by debuting her in 'The Swordsman of all Swordsmen', a notable action-adventure follow-up to the seminal wuxia feature 'Dragon Gate Inn' at the age of 17, cast alongside newly anointed wuxia star Polly Shangkuan Ling-feng and the majority of that film's memorable acting chorus to try to mimic the success of King Hu's masterpiece from a year prior. After several notable roles working with such pioneers of Taiwanese cinema such as directors Li Hsing, Tyrone Hsu, John Chow and Chen Hung-min, Yang continued a brief and rather inauspicious career appearing in several Hong Kong features under the wings of two Shaw Brothers mentors with Taiwan roots, Li Han Hsiang and Sun Chung before deciding to leave the business to wed and retire from the public limelight.
