Johnny W. Wilbanks is an actor, born in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1950 and known for the films "The Tempest" (1998), "The Hunley" (1999), "Gods and Generals" (2003), and "Slavery and the Making of America" (2005). Before becoming an actor, he served in the United States Air Force (1975-1997) as a Logistics Specialist with Tactical Air Command and as an Air Transportation Specialist with Air Mobility Command. During that time, he was stationed for 3 years in West Berlin during the Cold War, participating in two spy exchanges in 1985 and 1986 between the U.S. and the Soviet Union. He also was a participant in Operation Desert Storm in 1991 during the Persian Gulf War, as well as the airlift during Operation Provide Comfort (1991-1993), assisting 500,000 Kurdish refugees in northern Iraq. He married the former Margaret James in 1989 and has four children.
