Stefano Bessoni was born in Rome in 1965. He finished his studies in arts-visual field and graduated at the School of Fine Arts in Rome. From 1990 to 1998 he worked as a camera operator, director of photography and editor. From 1998 to 2001 he worked with director Pupi Avati. The National Museum of Art and Folk Traditions edited an essay on his work, named "Through the Mirror". Publication also contains the script and drawings of the movie "Grimm and the cruelty theatre". He received, in 1995, the Fedic "Claudio Pastori" award motivated as follow: "For the consistency of commitment, peculiarity survey, culture and passion expressed through his work in the study of relations between cinema, painting, history, traditions and folk beliefs." In 1998 a personal exhibition has been dedicated to him at the Messina VideoFestival: "Eye of the Cyclops". From 2000 he teaches direction at the NUCT (New Cinema and Television University) in Cinecittà. He carries out at the same time his illustrator activity.
