In Knoxville she was signed with Talent Trek and booked a background role in October Sky, she graced the cover of a local department store advertisement for "Watson's", shot the cover for Buffalo Exchange clothing, and appeared in numerous local commercials and theater productions. She then went to New York City to receive formal training at the famed Lee Strasberg Film and Theater Institute as a method actress.
