Following an ill fated career as a professional tennis player, British Film Maker Michael Jaffer made his first film, Part Time Lover in 1993. Although only a short film, it was acquired by a major film distributor and received a cinema release in the UK. The film went on to be sold to international television companies worldwide. In order to further his career, he relocated to Paris, France in 1995 and made his second film, L'Autre Femme (The Other Woman). The short film went on to be an official selection at a number of major international film festivals, including Seattle, Cannes, Palm Springs, Mumbai and Sao Paulo. Critically acclaimed, the film also received a cinema release in the UK and has been sold to television worldwide. Michael remained in Paris for his debut feature film, Une Journée Tranquille (A Quiet Day). The film was an art house homage to the 'nouvelle vague' French films of the 1960's and as with all of his previous work, it was well received by critics and went on to be distributed theatrically. Between 2000 and 2003 Michael directed a number of international television commercials. Soon after, he started his own production company Sugarfree Films. In 2007, he completed his second feature film, Full Circle. The film had its world premiere at the 38th International Film Festival of India and has subsequently been selected for numerous other prestigious international film festivals, including the Shanghai International Film Festival. The film won The Golden Lotus Award for Best Cinematography at the Macau International Movie Festival in 2010. Full Circle had a high profile in Asia and was remade in Hindi for the Indian market. In January 2017, Michael completed his latest short film, Parallel Lives. The film received a prestigious cinema release in London and Los Angeles in 2017. Soon after, he used the limited time available to make his first Spanish language film, El Ultimo Beso (The Last Kiss) which had its world premiere in New York City, October 2017. Thereafter it found its way to numerous international film festivals. The film received a cinema release in London in July/August 2018. Michael has now worked/written in five different languages and has recently completed post-production on his new feature film, The New Hoax.
