Raised in Brooklyn, New York, his exposure to acting occurred at ten years old when the Metropolitan Opera Theater Company produced an original musical at his elementary school. He was cast as the lead role of a school-bully that reformed after his classmates confronted him. Since then, Juan Perez has trained and performed in New York City. His breakthrough performance was during his debut at a Brooklyn College production of "You Never Can Tell," performing the role of 'Bohun', a commanding lawyer. Subsequently, he has appeared in productions such as "A View from the Bridge," "Romeo and Juliet," and "Escape from Happiness." He has also appeared in films like La casa loca (2007), in which he plays 'Luis Tucker,' one of the comedic lead roles.
