Daniel McNicoll was inspired by the original Star Wars films and the subsequent introduction those movies gave him to composer John Williams. Interest developed for orchestral music especially related to film, movies and television. McNicoll studied music and entertainment focusing on producing at Belmont University. Driven by music as a catalyst for visual art and accepted into the CMJ Music Marathon and Film Festival of NYC two years in a row, McNicoll released a collection of his original music titled 'Love Suffers Long'. Los Angeles' Baseline has described his screenwriting as both "original and engaging with strong market value". His first film Reclaiming the Blade (2009), featured Viggo Mortensen (Lord of the Rings), Karl Urban (Star Trek), Bob Anderson (Star Wars), John How (Narnia), Sir Richard Taylor (X-Men, Avatar),and John Rhys-Davies (Indian Jones). The documentary was distributed by Starz/Anchor Bay in the UK and distributed in the US through Galatia Films, LLC. McNicoll directed the web-series 'Hobbit in 5', YouTube's 23rd most subscribed channel (June 2011), produced with the publicity support of TheOneRing.net, Weta Workshop and Warner Bros. He also directed 'Soundscapes of Middle-Earth' a video blog diary for Howard Shore's 'Fellowship of the Ring' Orchestral Tour. McNicoll is producing the epic Glastonbury: Isle of Light (2015). Other involved in that project include Ned Dowd (Producer: Count of Monte Cristo, King Arthur, Apocalypso, Last of the Mohicans). Casting Director Robin Gurland (Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith). Sir Richard Taylor, Weta Workshop Director (Lord of the Rings, Avatar) and famed Tolkien Illustrator John Howe (The Hobbit, and Narnia).
