Phabey Wang

During the past decade, Yuan "Phabey" Wang has become, not only one of the most efficient cultural and business liaisons between the East and West, but also a producer and consultant with exceptional knowledge of both the Hollywood production process and the Chinese investment and censorship criteria. Born and raised in Beijing, but a resident of Los Angeles for more than 20 years, she is fluent in both Mandarin and English. Her hands-on experience gives her the ability to bring creative vision and business objectives together while discovering unique stories for distribution worldwide. Educated at the prestigious Peter Stark Producing Program at USC School of Cinematic Arts in Los Angeles, Yuan holds a Master's Degree in Fine Arts in Motion Picture Producing and Entertainment Management. She began her career as a television sit-com and series creative executive and screenwriter at Beijing Yahuan Productions, the studio that produced some of the most popular TV series in China. Following that, she took on the role of a script analyst for the censorship committee of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television in China. In 2011, Yuan co-founded Cinearc Entertainment, an innovative consultancy and production company specializing in developing and producing China-US co-productions for both traditional and new media platforms. As the company's general manager, Yuan provides cultural, language and creative consultancy services to major Hollywood studios including; Warner Brothers, Disney Studios, Legendary Entertainment, and Universal Pictures. Some of her projects include; Total Recall (2012), Son of God (2014), and The Lego Movie (2014). In 2016, DreamEast Pictures, the entertainment branch of the massive SkyOcean conglomerate in Beijing, hired Yuan as the CEO. Based in Hollywood, but oscillating globally, Yuan oversees all aspects of development, production, marketing, distribution, and operations for the company. DreamEast Pictures is active in television and film productions while pursuing original development and programming for a global audience. When she is not travelling for DreamEast Pictures or Cinearc Entertainment, Yuan volunteers her time, and international expertise, as a guest speaker on industry panels and conferences. She is a member of the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and serves as a juror for the International Emmy Awards.
