KC Allen is best known as a Writer and Director, but has also worked as a producer, 1st AD, 2nd 2nd AD, editor, sound editor and voice actor. KC began his creative career in 1985 as a radio DJ, program director and creative commercial producer, a career that lasted until 2003. In 2001 he started a production company that, in 2007, became Allen Film & Video. In 2006 he worked on his first feature as 1st AD, in 2007 he worked on two shorts, and in 2008 he started a 6 year stint as City Producer of the Columbus, OH 48 Hour Film Project. In 2016 he returned to narrative filmmaking, producing, writing and editing "Wildcat" (5 awards, 8 nominations), producing, writing, directing and editing "A Collar For Kevin" (3 nominations) and writing, directing, producing and editing "Dark Of The Night" (3 awards, including Best Film. Best Director and Best Sound, and 5 more awards at Horror Hotel including Best Ohio Film, Best Ohio Director, Best Ohio Lead Actor, Best Ohio Cinematographer, and an Honorable Mention) "Dark Of The Night" was also an official selection at the Nightmares Film Festival 2017 and was nominated for Best Ohio Short, was 1st runner-up at S.O.S Indie Horror Short Film Festival, and won Audience Choice at "Show Us Your Shorts" in 2018. The film screened at other festivals as well, including HorrorHound, Horror In The Hills, and the Indie Horror Fest in DeKalb. IL., where it was nominated for "Director's Choice". In 2017 KC wrote, directed, produced and edited "Melting Pot", which won 2 awards at Cincinnati's Winterfilm including 1st Runner Up for Best Film and Best Supporting Actor (plus 5 nominations), won Best Ohio Film, Best Lead Actor in an Ohio film, Best Cinematography in an Ohio Film, and Best Romantic Comedy at the Indie Gathering International Film Festival, was an official selection at the inaugural Inside The Loop film festival in Sharonville, Ohio, an official selection at the Beaufort International Film Festival in Beaufort, South Carolina where it was nominated for Best Short and Best Comedy, and an official selection at the 2018 Maumee Film Film Festival. In 2017 KC also wrote, produced and directed the short mystery "Details" as an entry in the Columbus 48 Hour Film Project. In 2019 KC wrote, directed, edited and produced "Poor Baby", an action/comedy short that won Best Film at Winterfilm, Best Comedy at the Austin Comedy Short Film Festival, Best Ohio Film at the International Indie Gathering, and received wins for Best Actress, Best Screenplay, Best Sound, Best Cinematography, and further nominations for best film, for the supporting cast and for the original score (Cut Time Music). The short also screened at the Beaufort International Film Festival, The Atlanta Shortsfest, Short. Sweet. Film Fest., Maumee Film Festival, and the Film Festival of Columbus, and was picked up for further distribution by BrandonTV (BTV). In 2020 KC entered a feature length comedy screenplay in the Script Summit Screenwriting Competition and won two awards, Best Voice, and the Krista Keller award. KC is now professionally represented by Krista Keller Talent Management.
