Born in Chicago, Patrick grew up in Lincoln Park and moved 30 minutes north to Wilmette at age 11. After gaining praise from several English teachers for his stories in creative writing classes, at 16 he realized that he wanted to write professionally. Patrick graduated New Trier High School and went on to University of Utah to study film and writing. After two years he transferred schools and moved to Los Angeles enrolling in Film Production at California State University Northridge.
